JOEY Wipes Complete Bath System
Didn't find the answer to your question? Ask us! What is the JOEY Wipes Complete Bath System? The Joey Wipes Complete Bath System is a revolutionary replacement for
a basin bath. Each resealable pouch contains one complete patient's bath.
The allergen free solution on the washcloths contains a rinse free cleansing
agent and skin moisturizers which leaves skin clean yet very smooth and
soft. Because the Joey Wipes Complete Bath System eliminates the gathering
of materials needed to do a basin bath, the laundering of the washcloths,
and greatly reduces the caregivers time needed compared to a basin bath,
it reduces the facilities cost of bathing a patient up to 70%. What does a unit of Joey Wipes Complete Bath System consist of?Each bathing unit consists of a resealable pouch which contains eight
pre-moistened disposable washcloths, one for each different area of the
body. The complete pouch is microwaveable to warm the bath for the patient.
The pouch has a large oval opening which makes it easy to remove the washcloths.
The thick, soft washcloths are a special, non-irritating combination of
Rayon and Polyester fibers. Under the washcloths in the pouch is a foam
insulation pad which keeps the bath warm for up to an hour, even when
set on a hard surface cart or table. Is there any latex in the product? No, there is absolutely NO latex at all in any portion of the product
including the pouch, resealable label, disposable washcloths, foam insulation
pad, or the solution. Is it safe to use on patients that have delicate skin? Not only is it safe, but it is advantageous. The disposable washcloths
are made of a non-woven, specially blended mix of Rayon and Polyester.
This blend creates a washcloth which is considerably softer on the skin
than the traditional terry cloth used in most facilities. This not only
eliminates the skin irritation that can occur with traditional washcloths
by friction but also soothes the skin and can comfort the patient.
Use of the Joey Bath Wipes reduces occurrence of decubitus ulcers. Is there any alcohol in the solution? No, there is absolutely NO alcohol in the solution, including
any of the components used in making the solution. How long will the pouch stay warm?Heat retention studies indicate that the pouch will stay warm for
up to one hour after heating in a microwave. The heat retention is
this great because the package is resealable and there is a foam insulation
pad in the bottom of the package. Studies have shown that most of the
heat is lost through an open, unsealed top or through the bottom when
the pouch is placed on a hard surface. Is there anything in the product that could cause an allergic reaction? There are no known allergens in the product including the packaging,
the disposable washcloths or the solution. Ther is no latex anywhere in
the product. Other relatively common allergies are to Nonoxynol-9 which
is often found in solutions, Lanolin which will cause a reaction to anyone
allergic to wool, and heavy fragrance oils. Joey Wipes complete Bath system
solution has been developed as a superior formula which contains none of
these common allergens which could cause reactions not only to the patients
but also to the caregiver. Because of the eyes, is it safe to use on the face?Yes, Joey Bath Wipes can be used on the face. Joey Bath Wipe solution
is pH buffered to match the skin's normal pH. The solution is buffered
by Boric acid. Boric acid is such a safe buffer. It is often used in eye
washes. The cleansing agent in the Joey Bath Wipe solution is the same
base used in some baby shampoos and baby body washes and therefore poses
no threat of harm to the eyes. Does the Joey Bath Wipe pouch have to be heated to use?No, it is not necessary to heat the Joey Bath Wipes to use them. The
solution will work just as well if the pouch is not heated. However, for
the most comfortable bath for the patient the pouch should be heated in
a microwave for no more than one minute. The package may also be heated
by running under warm water if a microwave isn't available and a warm
bath is preferred. Is a moisturizing lotion necessary after using the Joey Bath? The Joey Bath Wipe solution contains moisturizers and emollients for
the skin including Vitamin E and Aloe Vera. These leave skin feeling soft
and smooth so it is not necessary under normal circumstances to have to
use a body lotion after using the Joey Bath Wipes. Can anyone use the Joey Wipes Complete Bath System?Generally, the Joey Bath Wipes can be used on almost anyone. Infants
under the age of 4 weeks old have very absorbent skin and will need special
care. There is little known about the effects of bathing infants this
young. It is therefore recommended that traditional bathing methods of
infants at this young age be compared to the Joey Bath carefully by healthcare
professionals before proceeding. Does the skin need to be towel dried when using Joey Bath Wipes? No, towel drying is virtually eliminated. The Joey Bath Wipes Complete
Bathing System solution has been specially formulated to evaporate, leaving
skin completely dry in less than one minute. The solution will leave a
soothing layer of lotion (Vitamin E and Aloe) on the skin, leaving it soft
and smooth. The reduction of friction on the skin from not using a towel
to dry the skin is beneficial to the patient and saves time for the caregiver. Does one pouch make up one complete bath?Yes, each pouch contains enough pre-moistened, disposable washcloths
to bathe one full-size adult. The pouch has been designed as a
single-use unit. This design allows for a reduction in the chance of cross
contamination of bacteria or infection that may be found by using one
washcloth on the whole body and by reusing a basin and soap. If the package is resealable, how is contamination controlled? The cloths of the Joey Wipes Complete Bath System are folded in a unique
"Z-fold" which allows the cloths to lie on top of one another in the
package but without contaminating each other. The large, oval opening
gives a gloved hand easy access to one towel at a time without touching
any of the remaining towels. The foam insulation pad being only on
the bottom does not hinder removal of the washcloths. This packaging,
as opposed to others where the towels are all folded together and in a
bag, decreases any chance of contamination. Joey Bath Wipe Solution contains
a unique combination of preservatives which are synergistic. Therefore,
they are effective against a broad spectrum of mold, yeast, and bacteria. Are Joey Bath Wipes environmentally friendly?Yes, even though it is a disposable product. The Joey Bath Wipe packaging
waste has been significantly reduced while keeping the ability to retain
heat. The insulation pad being only on the bottom of the package reduces
the amount of waste while being very effective in keeping the bath warm.
Laundering of traditional reuseable washcloths is not environmentally
sound because of the contaminating phosphates in the water. Facility towels
also have a much shorter lifespan because of lesser quality of the washcloths,
intense use and harsh laundering processes which leads to quick disposal
of traditional "reuseable" cloths. Can Joey Bath Wipes be used for incontinent care? The Joey Wipes Complete Bath System has been designed to replace basin
baths. It was not designed for incontinent care. The Joey Bath Wipes
are excellent cleansers and skin conditioners; however, Joey Wipes Complete
Bath System is not cost-effective for a patient that is frequently incontinent.
Joey Bath Wipes were designed to save a facility as much as 70% versus
a basin bath. Wipes which are designed particularly for incontinence tend
to be a much thinner cloth and have a different solution on them which
is not ideal for bathing the whole patient but are cost-effective and
appropriate for the incontinent patient. Therefore, any disposable wipes
which are marketed as incontinence wipes and bath wipes will not give
an adequate complete bath and may result in added expense to the facility
and should be avoided. How does the Joey Wipes Complete Bath System save the facility money? The Joey Bath Wipes Complete Bath system saves the facility up to
70% versus the cost of a basin bath. One Joey Complete Bath unit replaces
the cost of a basin, washcloths, soap, water, body lotion, and the cost
of laundering. Bathing time is reduced on an average from 25-30 minutes
for a basin bath to 8-10 minutes for a Joey Bath. This greatly reduces
the cost of labor. In some cases, when the patient is able to and prefers
more privacy, the patient may even bathe themselves. The better skin care
as a result of using Joey Bath Wipes can also lead to long term savings
resulting from better infection control, reduced cross contamination,
and better skin integrity. Are there any special methods needed to dispose of the used wipes? No. Caretakers may dispose of the wipes in the same manner they would
other disposable products. Is the Joey Wipes Complete Bath system FDA approved? The Joey Wipes Complete Bath System is manufactured in an FDA approved
pharmaceutical production facility. The FDA currently does not regulate
bathing products; however, FDA Good Manufacturing Practices are followed
during the production of the Joey Wipes Complete Bath System. |
