A big Thank You goes out to Bob and Brian, Carrie Wendt and the 102.9 crew who were at Guy & O'Neill on Sept. 6th broadcasting from one of our production facilities. Here are just a few of the photos from the event.
Fredonia, WI – Guy and O’Neill Inc., a private label and contract manufacturer, has been awarded a 2018 Top Workplaces honor by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. This is the third year in a row the company has been bestowed the award as it was also recognized as a top workplace in 2016 and 2017. The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC, a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement. Several aspects of workplace culture were measured, including Alignment, Execution, and Connection, just to name a few.
“Guy & O’Neill is a company that cares, and not just with our own employees and customers, but also nationally. And the people in Houston need help”, said Tom Misgen, President of Guy & O’Neill. Items like cleaning wipes, bath wipes and personal hygiene products are not often the most popular to donate, but they are much needed. “An item like a bath wipe can give people a little bit of normalcy back in their lives. I imagine there are people who have not had the luxury of a shower in a week or so and these products give them the opportunity to hit the reset button”, Misgen said.
The company is trying to provide a sense of home and comfort from their community in Fredonia, Wisconsin to the families and communities in Houston, Texas. The commercial retail value of the products being sent down there is roughly $200,000. The semi-truck of product ships out on Tuesday, September 5th and it will take about 2 days before it will get down to Texas, before it can be unloaded and given to people in need.
Increased Speed, Increased Production
With increases in speed, cycle rate and finished roll size, the G3 will give converters a boost in production and capability. With feedback from customers using the existing model, Elsner’s team of engineers focused on the key points that were commonly heard.
The Features: Customer Feedback in Action for Big Gains
The move to 700 feet per minute web speed is where converters will see immediate gains. A 75% gain is going to keep downstream equipment very busy. The 12” finished diameter increase (up from 10” on the previous model) gives their customer greater range in the growing ‘gym wipe’ and other large roll sector. Each machine will include access to the Elsner IIOT app for real time data analysis, production feedback and trend monitoring. In addition, the app has embedded manuals, maintenance alerts, contact forms and other functionality.
“A close look at our perforator design was key to the development of our third generation nonwovens rewinder,” states Bert Elsner, II, Elsner’s President/CEO. “Our R&D team looked at how to better balance the knife body, handle the bearing mounting and make the blades easier to install. We are very pleased with the outcome and cannot wait to see the new design in action in our customer’s facilities.”
Guy & O’Neill: A Partnership for Success
When bringing a new machine to the industry, the key to success is finding the proper partner for machine number 1. Working closely with long time customer Guy & O’Neill, of Fredonia, WI, Elsner found a great fit.
“Guy & O’Neill’s growth and our machine build progress lined up perfectly,” says Jay Roth, Corporate Sales Manager for Elsner. “As they revealed their outlook and production needs moving forward, it was great timing to get G&O involved with the G3. The timelines worked for both teams. We are finishing up the build, integrating the optional features our customers expect, including our ultrasonic tail tie, and fine tuning to G&O’s exact needs. With their support, we are putting the machine through production level testing before we let it out of our building. We want to make sure they see the full value of their investment from the moment we install the machine in Wisconsin.”
Guy & O’Neill is thrilled to partner with Elsner to be first to market with the new machine.
“G&O is very excited to partner with Elsner on this new technology,” commented Tom Misgen, President and COO of Guy & O’Neill. Elsner is already the leader in center-pull roll converting equipment. The new G3 brings the level of performance to a new level. The new Elsner G3 is the heart of our new, automated, state-of-the-art, canister manufacturing line. Simply stated, this new process will be the most efficient AND flexible canister manufacturing line in the world.”

Fredonia, WI, May 31, 2017 – Guy & O’Neill Inc., a private label and contract manufacturer, is happy to announce we scored an unheard of 100 out of 100 points on our most recent audit with the Intertek Audit on April 18, 2017. The global average score is a 78 out of 100.
The Intertek Audit is a Good Manufacturing Practice Assessment Report (GMP) which rates facility performance. Facility performance is an analysis on organization and personnel, facilities and equipment, material controls, production and process controls, and laboratory controls. The performance summary also includes packaging and labeling controls, non-conformance, change control, and document and records control. Between these sections, there were 171 questions. Guy & O’Neill received a 94 on their previous assessment on December 7, 2015 and an 87 on their very first Intertek Audit on December 8, 2013.
To improve the audit score to 100 out of 100 means that Guy & O’Neill’s facility demonstrates control and compliance with applicable GMP regulatory requirements with high performance. “We scored an unheard of 100 out of 100 points. This is amazing! Auditors do not give perfect scores, but we received one. Yet another example of our outstanding performance, this time it is validated by an outside entity. Regardless of what this report states, we know that we are not perfect. We still have room to improve…and we will,” stated Tom Misgen, Guy & O’Neill’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
